Prepare for Failure !

Prepare for Failure !

Say Goodbye to Failure !
Say Goodbye to Failure !

Wait!  What???  Excuse Me?

Do you tend to hide behind walls either or your own or someone else’s making?

It may feel safe fo awhile but living this way is unfullfilling and very disappointing.

Instead, you need to prepare to launch!

Did you know that God had a plan for your life long before you were born?

He did. And He absolutely adores you.  He said so in His Word.

So what will you do with the knowledge that God, indeed, has your best interests in mind?

What will you do with the understanding that He will be with you every step of the way?

When you fall down, He’ll be there.

But you have to get up and begin walking into all that He has for you.  His plan and purpose for your life are a definite.  And there are people waiting to hear what you have to give and say to them.

So, now what’s next?

It’s time to empty out all of your God-given gifts. The supply is unending.

Roasted Carrots, Beets, Squash, Parsnips, Red Onions & Garlic

Roasted carrots, beets, squash, parsnips, onions & garlicRoasted Vegetables

One of my favorite “go to” recipes and one that my family loves. So easy to make, too. Just a side note: create this dish with the root vegetables of your choice. If you prefer celery root, feel free to add it or substitute it for one of the vegetables mentioned. This is a fun recipe to play around with.

Do You Believe You Deserve a Better Life?

Body, mind & soul - time to get healthy!
Body, mind & soul – time to get healthy!

Do you believe you deserve a better life?

Mind

You know how it is…one event, one negative thing happens in your day and voila! the whole day seems ruined. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You have a choice.

What do you feed into your mind everyday? Do you listen to music that brings you to a dark place or do you listen to sounds that lift you?

When someone makes a comment that hurts you, do you tell yourself that they’re probably right or do you remember that you are loved by so many people currently in your life?

How do you take control?

As I recovered from the loss of a loved one, I made a choice to seek out what was good for me, instead of leaning in toward the darker side of life. I had to mindfully make decisions all day long that if I wanted to recover successfully, some things would have to change.

So, my music and reading choices changed as well as who I listened to. I began to read my Bible more and used a devotional to keep me on track.

Do you feel that you’re surrounded by dark clouds that simply won’t lift?  Well, it’s time to fight back.

It’s your decision.

Body

What do you do to keep your body in shape? If you’re like me, it’s been very close to zero. Again, it’s a choice we make. We can begin to physical move by making time for walking, lifting weights or cardio exercise or we can stay on the couch.

I’m on a journey to lose weight and move more. My journey began on January 5th with a plan (not a diet!) to eat cleaner, meaning higher protein, more veggies and far fewer starchy carbs which were my total downfall.  The weight is steadily coming off inspite of having to deal with asthma and the meds I have to take to control it. It’s the first time I’ve been successful with an eating plan.  And guess what? I’m not starving myself! Woot!!!

So whether you have some weight to lose or are already at the weight you need to be, it’s time to eat better.  It’s time to take care of that beautiful body of yours.

What will you change first? Will you make a plan to move a bit or will you analyze your current eating habits and begin to change one thing at a time? Today’s the day to begin.

Soul

Where are you with God? He desires to speak with you daily. He loves and yearns to communicate with you. It’s important to take care of the spiritual side of your life. In fact, it’s the most important part of your being.

Simply begin by praying and speaking to the Lord. Next, open your Bible and turn to either Provers, Psalms or the book of John. God’s Word is the Living Word. While you’re reading, allow Him to impress upon you what he desires for you. Spend time with Him everyday.

“Jesus Calling” is a wonderful devotional to use in your everyday time alone with God. It can be ordered online through Family Christian bookstores or Lifeway bookstores.

Remember, you are worth this journey to good health, but good health takes in all of the above. Let’s do this together! You’re so worth it.

He is the Constant

He is the Constant.

constant, faithfulness, love, everlasting

He is faithful.

He stays put.

He never leaves you.

He wraps you up in His loving arms.

He stands by when everything around you is crashing down.

He adores you.

Yes you!

He is the Constant.

The Everlasting.

He rules and reigns.

There are no others before Him.

He gives you hope.

He never, ever gives up on you.

Nothing is impossible with Him.

He is your Constant.

Crumpled Bits of Paper

She wrote heartbreak poetry; broken dreams were all she had.

She wondered allowed, "There has to be a way to know where we go when we come to the end of our life."

The next day she drove to the local bookstore at the local mall and just stared at the Bibles. She thought, "Where do I begin?"  "How do I find the truth?"

Five years later, after marriage and a move to the midwest, she read a copy of the "Our Daily Bread" devotional and finally understood what Jesus did for her on the cross. He paid the price for her sins, past, present and future.

Her desire to know God, to know whether He loved her or not could not be denied.

And the truth set her free.

That girl is me.

Takin’ the High Road

Takin' the High Road14177673_s

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9

There are moments in life when we have to make choices concerning how we respond to others' negativity or criticism. It's very easy to answer the naysayers with a snappy or sarcastic comeback but honestly it places us on their level.

Instead, we're told to turn the other cheek and take the high road. God has a plan for your life and it's yours alone. Period.

People will have an opinion about everything you do, won't they? It's important that you develop the confidence and trust in the future your Almightly Father has set out for you.

You have been divinely appointed for a specific purpose on this earth and it's your responsibility to find out what it is and accomplish what He's set out for you to do.

Others may not like His plan for you.

What do you do?

You read His Word which operates not only as your life guide, but your career guide. Take a moment to read how thoroughly God knows you and adores you (Psalm 139)…

You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you.

19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
    Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent;
    your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
    and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
    I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.

Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils: Knocks Out Sinus, Ear and Chest Congestion

Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils: Knocks Out Sinus, Ear and Chest Congestion

Like many people, I catch one of two colds per year and mine always seem to begin in the sinus area.

Even after a regimen of antibiotics, Vitamin C, etc., the end result is that my cold and infection have gone, however, I always have a fluid build up in one ear that isn't necessarily painful, but it diminishes my hearing a bit and is just slightly uncomfortable.

In my quest to learn more about natural remedies for ailments like this one, I tried a couple of recommended essential oils from a company that's been around for awhile. The oils were peppermint and lavender. I used both on the affected ear (not "in" the ear itself) and utilized the ear technique shown in the videos below.

In my video, I demonstrate the Ear Technique using the 2 oils mentioned (Lavender and Peppermint).

In Dr. Mary Starr Carter's video, she demonstrates the Ear Technique on a family member, so be sure to check out that video as well.

Menthol is the primary ingredient in Peppermint Essential Oil and is believed to be effective at reducing congestion in the sinuses and the chest.  It also thins out mucous and assists in expelling it as well.

Lavender Essential Oil is believed to have wonderful anti-inflammatory properties. When used along with Peppermint Essential Oil, you have a powerful team!  Lavender reduces the inflammation which allows removal of the mucous.

Ok, here's my video showing how to apply both Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils:

Shark Tank – Dive Into the Deep End

9948408_sShark Tank – Dive Into the Deep End

Whether you dream of running a business or perhaps volunteer for ministry, there's a choice to be made.

Commitment is one.

After you study and learn all you can learn, there's another decision.

You may choose to "skim the surface" and hang out in the shallow end, or you can trust God and dive into the deep water.

Will there be sharks?

You betcha. But instead of being the dorsal fin and sharp teeth variety, the shark I'm talking about will come in the form of self-doubt, fear, criticism from others, mistakes, jealousy and oh, so much more.

Your Savior had your back on the cross, so why wouldn't He have it now?  What He expects from you, though, is to be His ambassador.  You are to do what He would do.

And He went deep.

He cares so much for us that He gave His life for our sins.  Does that sound shallow to you?

As you move forward in business, ministry or both, plan your move to hang out in the deep end. Use the gifts He gave you and give it your all.

Shallow simply wont't cut it.

Real Prosperity

16550235_sReal Prosperity

I love hearing what everyone thinks prosperity is. A whole book was written concerning a specific prayer you pray to claim prosperity.

But is that what God really meant when He said "You receive not because you ask not"?  Is it true that all you have to do is name it and claim it?

What about the prayer Jesus told us to pray, namely, The Our Father which says "Thy Will be done as it is in Heaven"?

His Will.

Not ours.

When I think about "real" prosperity, here's what I see:

1.  God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit

2.  All the time my Grandmother spent with me.

3.  The Lord answering my prayer for a man who loves me and actually likes to talk!

4.  A few good friends.

5.  My family

6.  Work I love.

These are some of the things in my life that money cannot buy.

Someone I knew very well bought a lot of jewelry to fill the void in her life.

It didn't work.

God's given you gifts to share with others. When you do, you'll experience "real" prosperity. Don't hoard your gifts – give them away!

Unburden yourself today from chasing after what never satisfies.
