Trying is more than being good enough. It’s giving your absolutely best.
Yes, yes…you could wait until your so-called ducks are in a row but I have to tell you – sometimes you just have to jump!
What skills do you need in order to make your dream job or business a reality?
Make a list and then one by one work yourself closer to a master achiever. It’s as simple as planning your work and working your plan. There’s a saying that goes, “Time waits for no one” and that’s true. Think about where you want to be exactly 30 days from now. Be very realistic.
Write out your list of goals for the next 30 days.
In most families there are many different personality types. There are givers, takers, uplifters and downshifters. LOL!
The message that came thru loud and clear during my junior high and high school years was that nothing much was expected of me. Aside from learning how to clean the house and wash dishes, I was challenged to achieve passing grades in school and that’s about it. No honor roll needed, no plans for college.
Oh, and there was a definite pressure to be thin. Thin equaled success.
I set out with the prescribed goals in mind and as a result, did not strive for excellence. Middle ground was enough.
As I entered my twenties, the desire for something more began to rise up within me. I began to question my own spirituality and the desires God had placed in my heart to write and to minister to others.
So after taking some of life’s detours and traveling down paths that were not at all beneficial to me (poor relationships, bad diets, no direction), I came to know Jesus as my Savior. The experience was a total compass reset.
So, where are you in your life’s journey right now?
Do you feel lost at sea?
Stories to tell but no one to tell them to?
I’m here to tell you that there is One who adores you. He gave His life for you, stands by your side and His name is Jesus. Give Him your heart and soul today.
Barbara Corcoran was originally rejected from Shark Tank.
Seriously? She’s a total dynamo!
But, it’s true. She was offered the job and 4 days before she was to fly out to Hollywood, producer Mark Burnett changed his mind.
Barbara felt totally rejected for a bit and then something else kicked in.
She decided to fight back!
And she was given the position of one of the top sharks in the tank.
You see, no one is immune from rejection. Emotionally, we place all of eggs in one basket and when it doesn’t “go”, we’re devastated. But what if what we’re determined to achieve is not really good for us? What if it’s not in God’s plan?
Then, yes, it’s time to let it go and wait expectantly.
Sometimes, though, we know as we know that we’re on the right path as Barbara Corcoran did and we have to give it our all.
One of my favorite “go to” recipes and one that my family loves. So easy to make, too. Just a side note: create this dish with the root vegetables of your choice. If you prefer celery root, feel free to add it or substitute it for one of the vegetables mentioned. This is a fun recipe to play around with.
Roasted Carrots, Beets, Squash, Parsnips, Red Onions & Garlic
Recipe Type: Entree
Author: Leslie Sansone Williams
Serves: 4 servings
The hour long cooking process for the carrots, beets, parsnips, red onions & garlic allows the natural sweetness within each vegetable to develop wonderfully. Very little seasoning is necessary. The vegetables really shine in this recipe.

2 red beets
1 summer squash
1/2 large red onion
1/2 small shallot
3 cloves garlic
3 tbsps. olive oil
1 tsp. sea salt

Preheat oven to 350 F.
Peel and cut into 1″ pieces the carrots, beets, squash and parsnips. Place in large bowl.
Cut red onion and shallot into small chunks and place in bowl.
Peel & add garlic cloves to bowl.
Add olive oil, sea salt & pepper to bowl.
Toss to coat contents in bowl evenly with olive oil and seasonings.
Place contents of bowl on oiled cookie sheet.
Place in hot oven.
After 30 minutes cooking time, stir vegetables to ensure even cooking.
You know how it is…one event, one negative thing happens in your day and voila! the whole day seems ruined. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
You have a choice.
What do you feed into your mind everyday? Do you listen to music that brings you to a dark place or do you listen to sounds that lift you?
When someone makes a comment that hurts you, do you tell yourself that they’re probably right or do you remember that you are loved by so many people currently in your life?
How do you take control?
As I recovered from the loss of a loved one, I made a choice to seek out what was good for me, instead of leaning in toward the darker side of life. I had to mindfully make decisions all day long that if I wanted to recover successfully, some things would have to change.
So, my music and reading choices changed as well as who I listened to. I began to read my Bible more and used a devotional to keep me on track.
Do you feel that you’re surrounded by dark clouds that simply won’t lift? Well, it’s time to fight back.
It’s your decision.
What do you do to keep your body in shape? If you’re like me, it’s been very close to zero. Again, it’s a choice we make. We can begin to physical move by making time for walking, lifting weights or cardio exercise or we can stay on the couch.
I’m on a journey to lose weight and move more. My journey began on January 5th with a plan (not a diet!) to eat cleaner, meaning higher protein, more veggies and far fewer starchy carbs which were my total downfall. The weight is steadily coming off inspite of having to deal with asthma and the meds I have to take to control it. It’s the first time I’ve been successful with an eating plan. And guess what? I’m not starving myself! Woot!!!
So whether you have some weight to lose or are already at the weight you need to be, it’s time to eat better. It’s time to take care of that beautiful body of yours.
What will you change first? Will you make a plan to move a bit or will you analyze your current eating habits and begin to change one thing at a time? Today’s the day to begin.
Where are you with God? He desires to speak with you daily. He loves and yearns to communicate with you. It’s important to take care of the spiritual side of your life. In fact, it’s the most important part of your being.
Simply begin by praying and speaking to the Lord. Next, open your Bible and turn to either Provers, Psalms or the book of John. God’s Word is the Living Word. While you’re reading, allow Him to impress upon you what he desires for you. Spend time with Him everyday.
“Jesus Calling” is a wonderful devotional to use in your everyday time alone with God. It can be ordered online through Family Christian bookstores or Lifeway bookstores.
Remember, you are worth this journey to good health, but good health takes in all of the above. Let’s do this together! You’re so worth it.
She wrote heartbreak poetry; broken dreams were all she had.
She wondered allowed, "There has to be a way to know where we go when we come to the end of our life."
The next day she drove to the local bookstore at the local mall and just stared at the Bibles. She thought, "Where do I begin?" "How do I find the truth?"
Five years later, after marriage and a move to the midwest, she read a copy of the "Our Daily Bread" devotional and finally understood what Jesus did for her on the cross. He paid the price for her sins, past, present and future.
Her desire to know God, to know whether He loved her or not could not be denied.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,so are my ways higher than your waysand my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9
There are moments in life when we have to make choices concerning how we respond to others' negativity or criticism. It's very easy to answer the naysayers with a snappy or sarcastic comeback but honestly it places us on their level.
Instead, we're told to turn the other cheek and take the high road. God has a plan for your life and it's yours alone. Period.
People will have an opinion about everything you do, won't they? It's important that you develop the confidence and trust in the future your Almightly Father has set out for you.
You have been divinely appointed for a specific purpose on this earth and it's your responsibility to find out what it is and accomplish what He's set out for you to do.
Others may not like His plan for you.
What do you do?
You read His Word which operates not only as your life guide, but your career guide. Take a moment to read how thoroughly God knows you and adores you (Psalm 139)…
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.
19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! 20 They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. 21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you? 22 I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
