Remember the 3 gifts brought to Jesus by the Wisemen over 5,000 years ago in Bethlehem?
Well, in this post I’m going to tell you a bit about the history of Frankincense (aka “Boswellia”) and then how we use it today for healing and other purposes.
History of Frankincense
Before the Wisemen brought Frankincense to the Lord at the stable in Bethlehem, it was being used all the back to the time of King Tut in Egypt. In fact, Frankincense was discovered in the King’s tomb!
It is a rare oil – only harvested in the Dhofar region of Oman in the middle east. So, originally, this oil was reserved for honoring kings.
Natural, proven oils were used to heal the body. Here’s how the oil was used before and during Jesus’ time:
- Chewed to heal mouth ulcers
- Mixed with leek juice to stop bleeding
- And much more.
How to Use Frankincense Today
If you’ve ever visited Dr. Mercola’s website, you would see quite a bit of information on inflammation and the toll its takes on our bodies. In 2001, I traveled to visit Dr. Mercola in Schaumburg, Illinois to discuss my health issues with him almost all of the solutions hinged on reducing inflammation in my body. I had been suffering from intense intestinal pain on and off for most of my life and had come to the conclusion on my own that something, whether it was allergies or something I regular ate, caused all of my woes.
And I was right! What I discovered was that I was highly allergic to wheat gluten which was one of the culprits causing my
inflammation. However, it wasn’t the only culprit causing inflammation.
Frankincense (aka “Boswellia”) can be used today to treat the following ailments:
- Varicose veins
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
It’s very important when purchasing essential oils, to pick up therapeutic grade oils. These are of the highest quality and undiluted. (That’s my “Buyer Beware” alert!) Never go the inexpensive route when purchasing these oils. I don’t want to see you waste your money.
Even though I’ve eliminated all wheat from my diet, my blood tests clearly showed that inflammation continued to be a problem. To combat this, I’m using Frankincense Essential Oil in small amounts, undiluted mainly on my wrists and/or clavicle area. I love that this is a natural solution to a long standing health problem for me, personally.
Hint: Frankincense can be used in a diffuser to assist in permeating the oil through the air. Very effective way to breathe in the oils to aid in healing.
